Grave care throughout Germany

Grave care throughout Germany. Reliable and empathetic. All-round service for your loved ones.

3 steps to individual grave care

The grave is the final resting place of a loved one. Here you can mourn, talk to the deceased or simply reflect on your thoughts. It goes without saying that the grave should be tended and cared for at all times; you are paying your last respects to your mother, father or a dear friend. But what happens if you are no longer able to look after the grave yourself?

This can easily happen, as your own age can be an obstacle to visiting the cemetery every day. But you don’t have to feel guilty, we will be happy to arrange a permanent grave care service that will take care of the final resting place carefully and reliably.

How much does grave maintenance cost per year?

In addition to the size of the grave, the frequency and scope of maintenance are decisive for the cost of grave care. While a single grave usually costs between 99 and 300 euros per year, a double grave can cost between 150 and 400 euros.

While the costs for the burial must be paid by the heirs, the responsibility for the care of the grave results from the respective statutes or the requirements of the cities and municipalities concerned. Therefore, as a relative, you are not obliged to care for the grave per se, whereas the owner of the grave may be charged for the care of the grave (possibly financed from the estate).

Although the period of use can vary from state to state and municipality to municipality, the period of use is generally 20 to 30 years for burial graves and 10 to 25 years for urn graves. The respective useful life can usually be obtained directly from the cemetery administration. Church cemeteries are no exception.

Although private individuals have been able to claim expenses for household-related services for tax purposes for a number of years, according to the Lower Saxony Regional Court, the costs of maintaining a grave do not count as such and can therefore not be claimed for tax purposes (case no. 4 K 12315/06, February 2009).
